when I arrived in Italy, during the first easter time my father-in-law wanted to prepare a tree for the occasion that would last and that be practical... He went out in the garden and got some branches from his olive tree, my mother-in-law got to decorating it with my help... now every year during lent my in-laws bring upstairs this easter tree, with that much of butterflies and chicks to remember the season... I believed this would be fitting for the theme this week... sacrifice of a father who allows a part of him to die so that life can begin all over again anew...
coming from a place where it is difficult to tell the change in the seasons, where life is always thriving, it is a joy to rediscover all this mystery of death and rebirth, this beautiful cycle which we are all a part of...
